on a 5K display is ... fun. Especially when it's normally configured for a 2256x1504 laptop display.

@trashheap @claudiom @thedaemon @ParadeGrotesque it has some odd dependencies and needs some weird system configuration to work right, but it was recently updated so not entirely dead. It runs nicely on my rPI400. As does nsCDE but that's really just fvwm2/3 with massive theming.

My go-to is #WindowMaker though. Or, on super low end devices (486), ctwm (default in #NetBSD and #OpenBSD I think.

@thibaultamartin @gnome I'd say it goes counter to some of the values that some parts of the OSS movement subscribe to. We the movement are diverse, as are our opinions, and that's how it needs to be.

Hence my other comment that I'm not saying they're wrong - their position is valid and entirely theirs to assume - but to me it's sad. I like many of the other things they're trying to do, but at some point in the future I may find myself be unable to make use of it unless I'm willing to replace my operating system.

I won't come down from the soap box when it comes to fighting against monocultures, though. Which is my biggest concern here. And in case I come across as having any more skin in the game than I actually do: I use #Windowmaker so I'll be OK for a while longer - and if I need to replace anything it won't be Gnome's fault ;-)
