weirdr.net is a Fediverse instance that uses the ActivityPub protocol. In other words, users at this host can communicate with people that use software like Mastodon, Pleroma, Friendica, etc. all around the world.
This server runs the snac software and there is no automatic sign-up process.
My go-to is #WindowMaker though. Or, on super low end devices (486), ctwm (default in #NetBSD and #OpenBSD I think.
@thibaultamartin @gnome I'd say it goes counter to some of the values that some parts of the OSS movement subscribe to. We the movement are diverse, as are our opinions, and that's how it needs to be.
Hence my other comment that I'm not saying they're wrong - their position is valid and entirely theirs to assume - but to me it's sad. I like many of the other things they're trying to do, but at some point in the future I may find myself be unable to make use of it unless I'm willing to replace my operating system.
I won't come down from the soap box when it comes to fighting against monocultures, though. Which is my biggest concern here. And in case I come across as having any more skin in the game than I actually do: I use #Windowmaker so I'll be OK for a while longer - and if I need to replace anything it won't be Gnome's fault ;-)
